Rotem Reshef, born 1964, is an artist living and working in Tel Aviv and NYC. Reshef is a graduate of Hamidrasha School of Art at Beit Berl College in Israel and acquired her Masters degree in museology from the Reinwardt Academy in Amsterdam. Her works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions at established galleries and venues in Israel and abroad, and most recently in Tel Aviv and Baltimore. In 2014 she won an Honorable Mention in LICC London International Creative Competition and in 2010 she has won the first prize in the “Art and Business” category at the international Arte Laguna competition held in Venice and consequently, two of her paintings appeared on the labels of a special edition of boutique wines from the Genagricola Estate vineyard. Reshef is currently working independently; she is one of the selected artists in the prestigious “@60" - the Height of Art” project and part of the new initiative gallery “Art Space TLV”.
Reshef creates her paintings by pouring and dripping diluted paint onto a moist canvas. Though abstract, her works contain hints of figuration, mostly organic, optic or nature oriented. They are created with partial control and great respect to the randomness of the liquid paint's movement, driving it over the canvas to a stop. The Paintings strive to capture a moment in time and invite the viewer to examine them, their creation process, and the story embedded within.
